On February 6, 2023, a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the southeast coast of Turkey. The quake was felt as far away as Armenia, and caused widespread destruction throughout the region.

The epicenter of the quake was located near the city of Izmir, and the tremors were felt as far away as Istanbul, some 250 miles away.

The quake caused extensive damage to buildings and infrastructure in the region, with some estimates suggesting that up to 80% of buildings in the affected area were destroyed. The quake has had a devastating impact on the local economy, with many businesses and industries being forced to close due to the destruction caused by the quake. The Turkish government has promised to provide financial assistance to those affected by the quake, and has set up a relief fund to help those in need.
