Elizabeth Rankin Strives for Success in her Senior Season

Senior Elizabeth Rankin is a three sport varsity athlete who plays  lacrosse, soccer and swimming.

She has been playing lacrosse since fifth grade, soccer since kindergarten, and started swimming her freshman year. Rankin has been on varsity in all three of her sports since her freshman year of highschool.

“I receive support from my teammates, my teammates are my biggest cheerleaders. While I enjoy playing sports in general, my teammates are the reason I look forward to every practice, game, and meet,” Rankin said.

Sophomore Caroline Lynch played one year of soccer and continues to play lacrosse with Rankin throughout her high school athletic career.

“Elizabeth is so talented, she is always ready for what is coming to her, she is very good at adjusting to where the ball is on the field,” Lynch said.

Rankin credits her athletic learning ability to her coaches.

“I rely on my coaches heavily to teach me new techniques and strategies. Beyond teaching, my coaches support me as a person. I am grateful for everything I have learned from them about how to be a better athlete and human,” Rankin said.

In the off season Rankin consistently runs, works out at the gym, and plays lacrosse. As for swimming, she trains at the dock at her lake house.

“I plan on continuing to play lacrosse through a club team in college. In addition, I look forward to exploring new athletic opportunities through completing marathons, triathlons, and more,” Rankin said.

Her teammates also think very highly of her. They understand how great of a person she is.

“Elizabeth can do just about anything, I think she will aim high and succeed in college,” Lynch said.

Rankin is very excited for the future with her teammates. As a senior, she has one last chance to leave her legacy with her teammates.

“As a captain in my senior year, I hope to create a supportive and fun environment. I look forward to cheering on my teammates throughout the seasons,” Rankin said.

Rankin does not only succeed on the field or on the deck, she also thrives in the classroom, her academic ability illustrates her determination.

“I pride myself for being an athlete that takes advantage of every opportunity. When I hear my teammates and friends cheering on the sidelines or pool deck I remember how much I love to compete,” Rankin said.

Rankin competed in the state championship in lacrosse and swimming.

“I am pretty competitive so when there is a chance or an opportunity to win I take it,” Rankin said.
