The new blockbuster movie “Avatar 2: The Way of Water”, which came out December 16, 2022, has people raving about how realistic everything looks throughout the movie. It has received a 92% audience rating on rotten tomatoes, with a critic rating of 77%, a low score considering it took over a decade to release the film. The movie surpassed $1.5 billion at the box-office worldwide in less than three weeks.

Senior Jack Ducas recently watched the film and had a strong opinion on it. Ducas talked about his opinion on the length of the movie and how real the CGI looks.

“Going into the movie I knew it was going to be long, but an hour into it I already felt like it was 2 hours,” said Ducas. “The CGI was also really realistic. It actually felt like the characters were real.”

One of the reasons this movie took so long to release is because James Cameron had to make up new CGI technology to use for the underwater scenes. Another reason is because Cameron was making scenes for Avatar 3 and 4.

With “Avatar 2: The Way of Water” being one of the most hyped up movies of the year, there were of course packed theaters world wide.

Junior Tyler Saccone talked about his experience going to the movies with some friends when Avatar 2 came out. He mentions seeing a huge line to get to the register that sells the movie tickets.

“When we got there the parking lot was already almost full, and it took us 10 minutes for us to get the tickets,” Saccone said. “We luckily got one of the last few seats. I never saw a movie theater so packed before.”

This movie definitely grabbed a lot of people’s attention throughout the world. From the stunning realism to the new characters introduced to the franchise. Avatar 2 has audiences praising this movie.

A reason why these movies get so much attention is because the director is James Cameron. Cameron is one of the best movie directors with the only director having three of his movies reach over 1.5 billion dollars in the box office: “Avatar”, “Avatar: The Way of Water”, and “Titanic”.

Senior Donny Hardy visited the Chagrin Cinemas just recently to watch this new movie. To escape the stampede of people that want to see the movie, Hardy watched Avatar 2 about three weeks after it came out; Therefore, the cinema wouldn’t be packed to the brim.

Avatar: The Way of Water has surely caught movie goers attention, and many people think that it’s a good movie overall. Cameron took a while on this movie so that people would see the future of cinematography.

“I was hearing all kinds of things about the new Avatar. Either people said it was really good or it was not that good,” Hardy said. “But when I watched it I thought it was pretty good. The CGI is what really caught my attention.”
