Winter Formal Changes

This year’s Winter Formal falls on January 28 and has an outer space theme. The dance will be decorated with stars, planets, and more. Students are encouraged to try their best to match the theme, whether that be with clothing or accessories. Colors like purple, black, and blue are fit for the theme.
Those who plan on attending can purchase tickets at the door.
“We aren’t selling tickets ahead of time this year. Buying tickets at the door is much faster because we don’t have to look for everyone’s name to check if they paid. This way people don’t have to wait in line as long,” said senior Camille Zitney.
Moreover, the Chagrin Falls Cheerleading squads host the dance and plan on making a few changes.
Senior Ava Latore said, “We want winter formal to be just as fun if not better than homecoming, and that starts with having a king.”
Three years ago there was a winter formal king, a tradition that unfortunately ended after covid. However, this year the cheer squad plans on bringing back winter formal king. Freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors will receive an email with an attached google form. The form will contain the names of all male seniors, and students can pick three that they believe are fit for the title of winter formal king. Following this, a second form will be sent out with the names of the top three candidates from the previous form. Students will vote a second time, but the winner of this vote will be kept a secret up until the night of winter formal.
“Definitely make sure to check your email so that you can see the form and respond in time. Every vote matters!” said senior Maya Rooney.
“It’s going to be super fun,” said Senior Ava Latore, “the winter formal king is going to be gifted with a crown and a few other fun things.”
Seniors on the cheer squad hope that by bringing back winter formal king this year, the tradition will continue as a way to spark excitement for the dance and raise student involvement. Additionally, a winter formal game has been added to the boy’s varsity basketball schedule. January 27th marks the night before winter formal. The Chagrin Falls Tigers will take on the Twinsburg Tigers at 6:30 pm. The game is at Quesinberry Gymnasium. Tickets for the boy’s basketball game can be purchased using an online mobile app or website, Ticket Spicket.
Senior Riley Myers said, “The theme for the winter formal game is going to be galaxy or space themed. This way it matches with the theme for winter formal and gets people excited.”
When asked about what people could wear to a space-themed game, Myers responded, “anything really. You could buy alien things at Party City or wear like glittery tops and stuff.”
