Cleveland Cavaliers recent success
With the team’s recent success, the 6-1 Cavs have solidified themselves as a solid playoff contender; currently placing second in the Eastern Conference rankings. Continuing their 6 game win streak with a dub against the Celtics, fans have high hopes for the rest of the season.
The Wine and Gold had a disappointing end to the 2021-22 season, finishing with two losses in the NBA Play-In to Brooklyn and Atlanta. However, the players and coaches see that experience as the cornerstone of their success this season.
With the offseason deal to acquire Donovan Mitchell, the urgency of Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen as the All-Stars, coupled with Evan Mobley settling in for a second season, The Cavs are more motivated than ever to take the next step by making a very possible playoff run.
Last year, the Cavs struggled with lack of versatility in their old roster. This season, that’s not going to happen, and the buzz has been built around this young core that has been extremely successful so far into the season.
NBA Hall of Fame analyst Charles Barkley had a stark warning for the rest of the league against any team facing the wine and gold in the playoff series.
Barkley cited that the Cavs’ comprehensive lineup consisting of highly capable men and an improved perimeter game with the addition of Mitchell and an appearance by Garland. Mitchell got off to a scorching start in his first season as the Cavalier, becoming the first player in franchise history to start a season with three consecutive 30-point performances.
Add in the fact that the Cavaliers have four members shooting the 3 at 40% or more as the production of this young team skyrockets. Additionally, Kevin Love and Cedi Osman’s effectiveness coming off the bench have really benefited the team’s volume this season.
Recently, the Cavs closed out a thrilling win versus the highly talented Boston Celtics team. In an overtime thriller, the Cavs proved that they’re not only here to win big games, but possibly a championship as well.
