Dog dressed as a Hot Dog for Halloween

Halloween is just around the corner and the holiday full of candy, get-togethers and trick-o-treating cannot come soon enough. There are many fun activities associated with Halloween, but everyone knows that costumes are what makes Halloween so special.

A lot of thought goes into picking out costumes. If you’re stuck, you’ve come to the right place for the best Halloween costumes to wear in 2020.

“I always try to be creative with my costumes, although I often have a hard time executing them. For this year, I feel a doctor or nurse would be an easy costume to pull off,” said senior Molly Lowe.

Dressing up as a doctor is the obvious choice for 2020. With Covid-19 going around, doctors are in the media now more than ever; therefore, dressing up as one would fit perfectly into 2020. In addition, masks need to be worn anyway and what better way to wear one than by incorporating it into your costume. You can buy a doctor costume from Amazon for a mere $17.99.

Moving away from Covid-related costumes, there are other easy Halloween costumes that can add a little spice to your look.

“I don’t love candy corn, but I feel like dressing up as candy corn would give off a nice fall feel,” said senior Mikey Amendola.

Dressing up as a simple piece of candy corn is the perfect balance of simple yet unique. Nothing screams fall more than candy corn, love it or hate it, it is a pinnacle of Fall. Moreover, the Halloween costume of candy corn incorporates candy and Fall which both are defining characteristics of Halloween. Few people ever dress up as candy corn, which adds originality to the costume. Also, it may draw up some controversy over strong opinions of the multi-colored candy. A candy corn t-shirt can be bought from Ebay for a well spent $24.95.

Partner costumes can also be great for Halloween.

“I feel that a good partner costume would be something to do with a childhood television show to add a little nostalgia,” said Amendola.

Childhood nostalgia is a perfect element to add to a costume, it is something everyone can relate with that also might spark a memory from one of your peers. That being said, a partner costume of Perry the Platypus and Dr. Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb would do the trick. The ongoing plot line of Perry and Dr. Doofenshmirtz was one of the most underrated parts of the childhood t.v. show, therefore, dressing up as the feuding duo would be a nice ode to the frienemies. A Perry the Platypus costume can be bought for $29.99 from Amazon while a Dr. Doofenshmirtz costume could be pulled off for free with a white lab coat, black turtleneck, and green cargo pants.

Going along with childhood nostalgia, a Mermaid Man from Spongebob costume would be a perfect costume to impress your friends.

Everyone loves the elderly superheroes, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy. Also, Spongebob for a Halloween costume is often too basic and unoriginal, although the costume of Mermaid Man is a minor character from the well known show that is still widely beloved. As a result, Mermaid Man is a perfect option for a Halloween costume that will bring back images of the invisible boatmobile. A Mermaid Man costume is available at Party City for a small price of $49.99.

Costumes are not only for humans they can also be great for pets.

“I love dog costumes; they are hilarious. Unfortunately, my dog hates having them on and freaks out. We tried to dress her up a few times. She was a hot dog once and a flower once, but only for about 2 minutes,” said English teacher Mrs. Stefanie Ashkettle.

Putting a costume on your dog is a great way to get you in the mood for Halloween. Specifically, a hotdog costume on your dog (especially a weiner dog) is a classic but perfect choice for your dog. A hot dog costume would only set you back $23.25 from Amazon. Another great option for your pet is to dress them up as the iconic Cup-o-Noodles, it is a simple but fun choice for your beloved pet. The Cup-o-Noodles costume would only cost you a solid $40 from the Nissan Fan Store.

In the end, no matter what costume you pick for this year, just remember to be creative and have fun with it. Remember, Halloween only comes around once a year so make the most of it!

“Halloween is so much fun and any costume that has creativity and effort put into it is perfect for Halloween,” said Lowe.
