Tigers grab Brown’s game of the week

The Chagrin Falls High School football team won Browns Game of the Week with an epic victory on senior night.

A 14-0 win on senior night against Beachwood supplied the team with Game of the Week. The Cleveland Browns select a game from multiple schools in Cleveland, the game is chosen by excitement factor and the display of the team’s hard work.

This was the final home game for the season and the final home game for the seniors, which stirred up the locker-room for the big game.

Head coach Mark Iammarino was anxious to see the seniors performance in their last game.
“It was a great deal of excitement for the team, and the seniors knowing it was their last game at Harris, went out in such a great way,” Immarino commented.

The team won on senior night with the help of senior Mick Lawrence, who was MVP of the game.. Lawrence was a crucial part of the season and helped lead the Tigers to many victories.

“It’s sad, but there’s no other way I’d rather go out than with a win,” Lawrence said.

Immarino and Lawrence accepted the check at halftime and were recognized as Browns Game of the Week winners.

Lawrence was happy with the outcome for the second half of the season, as was Iammarino.

“The whole team had a great deal of improvement in the second half of the season. I was very happy for all the players, especially the seniors because they got to leave chagrin with a win,” Iammarino said.

The Tigers ended the season with a 4-6 record, with a 4-2 record in the CVCs. After the Tigers flipped their season around, senior Ralph Barone was sad to see the season come to a close.

“These guys are my brothers. Everyone on the team has been playing with each other since seventh grade. I just can’t believe it’s over,” Barone said.

The season may be over but the outlook for next season couldn’t be better due to the influx of younger players. The team was able to end the season in the best way possible. In the words of Coach Iammarino, the seniors led the team with a great deal of respect and excitement. In the end, Iammarino was happy with the team’s end of the season.

“I have a great deal of respect. I told them this at our last game on Friday: we didn’t have a good start the season regarding wins and losses, but they pulled through for a great year” Iammarino said.
